How do I copy from SD card to a DVD?
This is driving me crazy. Am using Panasonic SDR-S7 Camcorder with SD card. Is it possible to just copy the videos directly to a DVD for playback in DVD player? I am so confused by this seemingly simple process
It depends.
Some background…
Regular DVD players typically require the video file type to be a VOB.
Flash memory cameras and camcorders save video to different file types… mov, mpg, mod, tod… but not vob.
A computer can use either of the above files…
You can use a blank DVD as a data disc – and burn the mov, mpg, mod, tod or whatever files… like those from Excel or PowerPoint or Word… and the DVD player won’t know what to do with those files.
Or, using a video editor in your computer and a “DVD authoring application” (like WinDVD or iDVD) they can render the video out to the VOB format and burn the disc so that video can play in the regular DVD player.
If you have never done this before and if you don’t know that there are several dozen different video file types and if you didn;’t know that DVD players are looking for a specific file, this can be challenging… But it is more complex than just copying files over to the blank disc…
